Dog Food Tips 2 – Daily Dog Care Series

Don't make the same mistakes I made with my Pomeranian!

In my previous article I talked about foods which are bad for dogs. However, many dog owners also want to know what foods are good for their pets. In this article, I will give you some tips on good dog food.

Generally speaking, the best dog food is natural food rather than dry dog food. Nowadays, more and more people are eating natural foods, why should this exclude dogs?

Natural foods which are good for dogs

Pumpkin
Pumpkin is very nutritious. It contains huge amounts of vitamin A, fiber and potassium. Fiber is needed in dog’s diet and potassium is good for blood pressure. Besides, pumpkin has far fewer calories than normal pet food, so it can help your overweight dog lose weight.

Apple
An apple a day keeps the doctor away. Apple is very good for human and it is also good for your pets. Apples are packed with vitamin A, vitamin C and fiber which are good for dog’s health. Apples with the skin on are full of plant chemicals that are considered to be protective against some types of cancer in dogs.

Yogurt
Yogurt contains calcium and protein. When you feed the dog yogurt you should choose one that has no sugars or artificial sweeteners. If your dog has digestive problems or allergies, you can try yogurt on its food. Moreover, dogs prefer frozen yogurt in summer.

Cooked egg
Cooked eggs are good for dogs, but raw eggs can cause biotin deficiency. Cooked eggs contain protein, selenium and riboflavin. They also can give your dog a little boost if it is prone to digestive upset.
