Many houses around the world have a dog as a family pet, and many of these households have adopted their dog as part of the family. Yet, as the animal grows up, they realize it is noisier than they initially expected. Continuous barking might end up stressing everyone in the house and dog owners sometimes are willing to do anything for their dog to stop making noise.
Yet, dog barking can be useful in critical situations, where the house, or a member of the family is threatened. Dogs that are experiencing anxiety for any number of reasons will bark and whine. There is the happy bark that a dog will let out when he is thrilled at the sight of his owner or the prospect of playing around. Other dogs simply crave for extra attention if they’re bored.
For the most part, dogs will only bark when they are bored. If their owners tend to always caress them, dogs will insist even more on being entertained often. Of course, it is the fault of the person who owns the dog, rather than the animal’s.
If you want to avoid your dog barking when other dogs are out in the street, a great idea would be to keep them in the back of the courtyard. Make sure to give your dog plenty of time to run around, as exercise releases a lot of the pent up enthusiasm that makes a dog bark so much.
When dogs bark a lot you shouldn’t pet them or give them attention, as they will insist in their behavior. Encouraging it to bark continuously is not an inspired means to avoid this situation. You should start with teaching it short word commands. Avoid stressing it by yelling a lot, this will only make the situation worse.
If simple training isn’t enough, you can associate it with bark collars. Many people feel that these bark collars are inhuman and painful to the dog, but that is not the case. A bark collar can use many different reinforcement techniques to teach the dog not to bark so much. You can choose a bark collar with sonic, static or citrus mechanisms.
Every version uses methods to teach the dog the proper time to manifest itself. The collars only annoy the animal, but do it no real harm.
Make sure that the dog’s bark collar is not triggered by ambient noise, such as passing trucks, shouting children, or other things. Whent he dog notices the connection between its barking and the unpleasant feeling, it will bark more rarely.
A great way to educate your dog is the use of a bark collar. When you put the collar on, keep the animal away from sources of loud noise. Read more about the use of a bark collar by clicking this link.
