Poms do shed, and the ones I know have great personalities. I had one with my ex and his daughter (they kept him) my brother has one (it is now 15 years old) my sister has 2. All are extremely friendly and mine jumps up on anyone’s lap as long as they are willing to hold him and pet him. My brothers dog loves me, my sister and my Mom as well as my brother. So whoever said they were one person dogs is wrong. They do need brushing every single day or they get matted.
Long haired Chihuahuas are a good dog, they shed less than the short haired Chi. They too have a great personality, very devoted to their people.
Toy Poodles are excellent, no shedding but you do have to groom them often. I do my two myself. I give them the cute lamb cut only. Kept short they don’t require a lot of brushing, longer and you will have to brush them. They are extremely attached to their owners. They usually pick one owner to be their human and will follow them like velcro.

Poms can be a one person dog and be very protective.
I would choose a more community dog. Like a lab, or retreiver, spaniel etc.

I have a pomeranean. I LOVE it. Get a pomeranean if you plan on bringing it everywhere andlove playful dogs! They do bark alot though but you could always train it.

Poms can get attatched to one person and snarl or growl, (be aggressive) towards others. How about a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, they are very friendly love to play, they don’t shed, and they’re very, very cute! I have a Wheaten and she is a great dog and loves us all! Good Luck!

Dogs are just as good as their owners.
good things: poms are little and have very small food bills
They can be taken around very easily and are generally happy to do so.
They make great apartment dogs because of their stature
They are very silly when trying to play with medium dogs!!!
Bad things: As with many pure breeds, there can be problems like luxating patellas and allergies.
Some small dogs get a "better than thou" attitude due to being treated more like a toy than a dog.
To avoid this, do not carry around the dog all the time!!! A little is fine especially since they do wear out but let them walk as much as they can when you go out.

I have had poms sinse I was a small child, I now breed and show them, they are one of the most loyal and loving dogs you could ever wish to meet, My dogs are ambassadors for the breed meeting people at Crufts and at Discover dogs in London, I have had the breed for what must be coming up 25 years and I have never met an aggressive one yet they can be fearless when confronted by a larger dog and will try their hardest to protect you and their home of intruders if you wish them to, they are also fantastic watch dogs warning you of anyone coming to the door.
They a farely easy to groom and you shouldn’t groom every day as you will damage their coats as they are a double coated breed. If you groom to often you will remove the under coat which is protecting the skin.
If you are interested in getting a pom I suggest you get a few books look on amazon or ebay the best book to get for a pom here in England is a book called Pomeranian by Hilary Harmer it is the bible for us breeders. The other place to go if you are interested in a pom is our breed clubs these phone numbers you will find on the Kennel Clubs website or my own. Do not go looking for a pom in the free ads or on websites like Epupz, most poms on these site are not always full poms.
